Our Story

Continental Repairs was started in 1967 by Rolf Meyer.

Rolf and his shop were one of Vancouver’s first German car specialists, working on Volkswagen’s and Mercedes, then Audi’s, BMW’s and Volvo’s.

Over 55 years later, his son Erich runs the shop with the help of David Gerth, Continental’s co-owner.

Erich is a highly detailed precision minded tech with over 30 years of experience servicing all aspects of European cars. He is usually behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly, but occasionally he’ll fix the finicky stuff.

Erich lives in Deep Cove with his family and is an avid hockey and soccer fan and player.

David is a factory trained Volkswagen tech who worked for Volkswagen Canada as the head technical advisor for Western Canada. His specialty is difficult diagnosis jobs and being straight forward and fact based in his approach to car repairs and maintenance.

David is an avid cyclist who races throughout the pacific north west and occasionally around the world.

Our shop manager is Dave Murphy, one of Vancouver’s most experienced working mechanics. His knowledge is only surpassed by his kindness.

Dave ran his own shop for many years before coming to work for Continental at what can only be described as “the worst retirement ever”.

We’ve got 3 working technicians, Caleb, Jason and Brandon. We feel very lucky to have found some of the best minds and hands in the business.

Caleb is a car nut who races and collects all things motorized. He has the ability to repair intricate engine issues that most people couldn’t dream of doing.

Jason grew up working in his Dad’s shop in England before moving to Canada and becoming a mountain biking and outdoor enthusiast. His breadth of knowledge is amazing, and his diagnostic skills are second to none.

Brandon is an incredibly caring, attentive and professional apprentice who is well on his way to becoming an excellent tech. It’s hard to describe other than to say he just has that “kid gloves” touch. He enjoys playing basketball and hanging with his dogs.
